- San Scripture engagement 1st follow through workshop (Khwedam in Shakawe) October 26-29
- Workshop attendees are:
- Sonner and Pieter (Caprivi, Namibia)
- Moses (Kaputura) and James (Shakarawe) from Botswana
- Khwedam LBT Bible Translation team: Splash (came in later), Moses (only for a few hours), coordinator Tim Beckendorf
- Eben Le Roux (serving the Khwe and The Seed Company San Partnership Coordinator)
- Lucas van Vuuren (serving the Khwe through the Dutch Reformed Church of Namibia)
- The first workshop among the Khwe was with Hendrik van Zyl in Bagani, Naimibia with three elders (Alfred, Bertie, and Abraham) from October 4 to 7, 2012. Since Afred died, Abraham moved and the Botswana side was not yet involved, as well as that Luca van Vuuren became specifically involved with serving the Khwe, we are starting the workshops from the beginning.
- I prepare Luke 10:25-37 as the first story to model and process with the participants. The group engages well and is very eager to learn. We look also how stories are part of the larger picture of the Bible, first in close context, but also broader, extending to the overarching story of the Bible. We also look at proper introductions in context of the need of the audience that we share the story with. They process the engagement process into the story well by the questions.
- On Sunday we go to Shakarawe where the three Khwe men lead the community in a session that lasts for more than two hours. At the end some people want this to happen more and ask that a church be started, which I play back to the community and they plan to appoint some people under guidance of the community leadership.
- The next day we reflect on the session in Shakarawe and continue preparing the narrative passage to be consultant checked and recorded.
- We finally record the narrative as an oral Scripture passage, which is taken at the end on his mobile phone by James.
